Echoes of Freedom: Independence Day 2025 Celebrated with Joy

The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with immense pride and joy at Mar Dionysius Senior Secondary School, Rishi Valley, Mallappally celebration was a beautiful blend of tradition, patriotism, and cultural expression — with programmes for both the senior students and the little ones of our school family.

The morning of 15th August began with a sense of pride as students, teachers, and parents gathered on the school campus.

The programme started with a warm welcome by Ms. Anndra Alice Kurian, followed by the most awaited moment — the Flag Hoisting Ceremony by our Principal, Mr. Joseph C. Michael. As the tricolour unfurled, the school band and the National Anthem filled the air with patriotism.

The Presidential Address by our Principal reminded us of our duty as responsible citizens, while the Patriotic Song set the perfect tone of devotion to the nation. The Head Girl, Ms. Harsha S. Nair, delivered an inspiring Independence Day speech, reminding us of the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and the role of today’s youth in shaping tomorrow.

Cultural highlights included a vibrant Dance Performance that added colour to the celebration. The event wrapped up with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Master Emil Vergis Mathew, Head Boy.

🌈 Special Programme for the Little Stars – 14th August 2025

On the 14th of August, our tiny tots from LKG to Class IV celebrated Independence Day with equal enthusiasm at the Dionz Auditorium.

The morning began with a sweet Prayer Song by the youngest voices of our school choir. Devaganga of Class IV welcomed everyone gracefully, setting the stage for a memorable celebration.

Our School Administrator, Rev. Fr. Gigi P. Abraham, and Principal, Mr. Joseph C. Michael, addressed the gathering with encouraging words, reminding us that today’s children are the architects of tomorrow’s nation.

The cultural performances were a treat to watch — a cheerful Dance by UKG students, a colourful Fancy Dress Parade by Classes I–IV where students dressed as freedom fighters and national leaders, and powerful little Speeches by UKG students Tanvi Manu Mohanan, Adam Samuel Shan, and Ayden Anish Jacob. The Kindergarten too had their very own Fancy Dress Parade, winning loud applause from the audience.

Adding more excitement, Classes I–IV came together for a spirited Dance, followed by the House-wise Patriotic Song Competition — each house filling the hall with soulful music.

Prizes for the Poster Designing Competition (Nagasaki Day, theme: “Say No to War”) were distributed by Mrs. Anu George, Academic Director. The programme ended with a Vote of Thanks by Diawik Dileep (Class IV) and the National Anthem, filling every heart with pride.
